Chief seems more suited to be a lawyer/salesman than a fighter. Other guy was right about pointing out about the signs and things not what they seem. Granted if MC and kid were in trouble time is limited but still need a plan and tactics so don't get wiped out. Pulling a stack of papers out of nowhere, saying can sign now and understand later, explaining things so MC overwhelmed and willing to sign an extremely dubious contract that will probably allow Chief to use and abuse him however he wants if ticked. Also, I bet that glorious mercenary unit they're part of is either comprised of solely that party or they're one of the lesser units.
