It gets ingrained in you, it really does. A few years back, to end a very long day, I had a bunch of upper receivers aimed at where I was sitting that were attached to nothing, just empty tubes at that point, but it still made me tense in the shoulders and the back of my neck itch. Still does.

Nah, the trouble is that the musclehead shopkeeper gave him an empty HP potion bottle. That kind of thing can get a dungeon explorer killed, easily. The only reason why I can imagine he wouldn't have reported it to the guild is that he had no real proof to substantiate his claim.
