Find if pretty hilarious to be honest as it's usually the 'woke' US audience that has the biggest issues ignorantly blaming Japan culture. By 'cultural' comparison across Europe, age of sexual consent is on average 14-16 years old. Across the middle east and large chunks of Asia polygamy is still widely practiced. Incestual relationships to maintain 'bloodline purity' have been a core element of ruling dynasties across the whole World until not that long ago. And somewhat hypocritical, child marriage is legal in at least 34 US states (and as young as 12 years old in 4 of those States).

Amen to that. If you can't enjoy a make-belief setting because it's different from your reality, then why bother with fiction?

I mean for crying out loud, one of the most celebrated 'fantasy' romances of all time, Romeo and Juliet wasn't far of this with Romeo being the same age as this MC and Juliet being canonically 13 years old!

But if the adult is not actively trying to get the child to fall in love with them then it’s not grooming. People need to stop using that word incorrectly or it’s less likely to be taken seriously.
