Shouldn't he know that having played the game, or did I miss that in his explanation of her backstory? I get that he is a bit delusional and might not make the connection that giving affection to someone touch starved and abused can have consequences beyond just improving their lives, but if her power is directly correlated to how much affection she receives, then surely that would be explained in the game and understood that he is going to be power leveling her.

Kael is... incredibly dense.

He also forgot that that her selected capture target is suppose to grow stronger with her and by the time the "events of the game" start he is also capable of miraculous healing feats but does not notice it in any way.

Think it was explained in her orignal game backstory that the church extensively tortured and experimented on her under the guise of "training" before the start of the main storyline in the game.

So because the MC didn't report her talents to the church, healed her mind, trained her, and basicly treated her like his daughter, she never became the nearly emotionless damaged husk that arrive at the academy in the otome game.

Not any worse than Shingeki no Eroko-san for which there is nary a criticism of, 9 years, and after the timeskip here the two series will actually match in that aspect. Unfortunately, double standards seem to apply for some folks depending which gender is older or younger...
