Gotta wonder how many people have no idea what this is referencing. A bygone age of computer mice.

snes mouse for me, by the time that we got a computer, it was already the point where optical mice were coming out so before gunk on the rollers was ever a problem, we got an intellimouse 3, and this mouse lasted till laser mice was common. still had a second cheap optical mouse just because lasers while common, where still that higher price point.

and just in case anyone needs a new mouse on a budget, cheap optical mice are better than cheap laser mice. lasers are very accurate, but that is also a problem because a left click on a cheap laser can send the mouse off 20~ pixels, while a cheap optical doesnt have this issue at all. cheap opticals also don't tend to have sensor issues the same way that cheap lasers do.

Those mice were just on the way out when I finally had chances to use them. I think I had maybe 3 years of light computer usage before the new standard came in. I was never so eager or dedicated to do such a deep and careful clean though since it wasn't mine xD

Please, more robo waifu!!

I fondly remember the feeling of satisfaction I had watching the cursor zip smoothly around the screen after cleaning the trackball. In a strange way, it's sorta like foreplay.

Aah, the old times, when there would be classes full of people and whoever was late to arrive was pranked by having the ball removed from their mouse for a while.
And when you were bored you'd just roll it around on the desk from one size to the other.
Sometimes toss it around to play catch.

On a more serious note... Does that mean that the eye is wireless? Because I didn't see the contacts for data transmission... And don't go telling me the black "bottom" is the place it all goes, because it can't be, since the eyeball is turning around, the beam is moving too. Unless it's a massive sensor and we'll have a chapter where she gets a fisheye lens for an eye for 180~ view

I had one of these mice before, never got to use it much though, cause my dad already bought an optical mouse by the time I really got to use the computer. I was born in the early 2000s, just when optical mouses were starting to get good, and we still had that trackball mouse. I still kind of have memories of it, not of cleaning it though lol.

And here I thought the chapter where the baby goat demon didn't know what tapes were made me feel old.

I was still in middle school when mechanical mice were phased out in favor of optical ones for less maintenance/sabotage.

My parents still had a mechanical/trackball mouse for the computer at home until 2007 when I finally graduated high school and moved out.

I remember preferring track-mice because the optical mice would get stuff blocking the laser a lot easier

How many young people in comments have no clue what this chapter references? I know, and I feel old now.
