How did she take a peek? Aren't her compound eyes omnidirectional? Or are the ommatidia directed in facing direction so small and densely packed, that she has a high viewing resolution there, similar like the Macula in the retinas of us humans? I guess she would need that feature, if she actually wants to read books instead of just eating them. Then it would also be kinda hard to hide "staring" at something/someone as she would have to turn her whole head into that direction.

Wait a second....plants and books seldom run...If she has a such highly developed visual recognition system, that is directed to the front...doesn't that mean she is a predator?

for the most part, humanoid monster girls are supposed to be as similar to humans as possible cause anti-logic reasons
I don't think you are supposed to think about monster girls through a lens of logic...it kinda is the exact opposite of the magic world standard that they usually live in, and the insect types are probably the least logical of those based on actual existing creatures (plant types come close, but they have an established fantasy creature archetype backing them up so they don't get full points...I would concede bacteria types would be even less logical if they existed, but I've never actually seen someone go THAT far in creating monster girls for their story world)

...that said if you did need a logic based reason, then it could be that it somehow otherwise benefits them (perhaps for survival purposes, rather than hunting purposes) to appear relatively human and they evolved to that shape, after all plenty of real insects evolved to mimic the shapes of either inanimate objects that would be ignored or dangerous ones that most animals wouldn't dare to actually eat

Doesn’t “Cells At Work” have humanoid bacteria monster girls?

@Qelix
Yeah, it’s almost guaranteed that she would be a predator. Having a brain large and complex enough to be able to be sapient would require a LOT of energy to run. The most efficient way to obtain that energy is through eating other animals.

@roetheboat I never actually read it, but was Cells at Work set in an alternate world with demi-humans or was it just a thing about anthropomorphic cells working more or less their normal tasks? cause if it's the first it's a valid counter point, but if it's the second then it's not actually monster girls and more like a kid friendly way of explaining cellular biology
