This is adorable. Maybe if they should fix up the shine as a community project. As a historic site of cultural heritage and have locals and tourists go there to pray, then the god will come back. There are some manga like that. Where the gods live because of the faith of their followers, and if no one prays to them they loose their power/divinity.
