Just because a mission is secretive that doesn't mean you send in a team with no communications or radio support or timeline for making contact.
like you think when they send soldiers to kill osama bin laden they just told them "so this is a secret mission so we'll drop you off here and we'll next here from you whenever you make it back whether that's in a day or a week"

come on bruh. the author should have thought of a better scenario

Yeah honestly until now i felt the story is incredibly forced and doesn't make much sense, but i hope something more logical happen, like a spy in the military team, maybe that military team were full of novices, or idk the captain being the bad guy or something, just something.
I hope it gets better

I think you have to just ignore it and accept that for some reason , whatever it is, they're cut off from communications and don't have a timeline set up for when backup will arrive.
then if you just suspend that disbelief and accept that , then you'll be able to have a similar kind of story to monkey peak
