You know, this is easy as hell to prove.....that ate the king boar but not it's bones, so they just have to take their asses out to the site and show the bones.
Another thing, to hell with this dude but he made a great point. That receptionist was the one who assigned them the mission, the information led them to run into a far stronger creature, therefore the guild is at fault for this event they have no right to punish them for.

While the author does deserve a pat on the back for putting a reasonable spin on the jackass senior adventurer cliché, I still wish he didn't full send by pursuing the hackneyed fight as a conclusion.

This is some high level retardation that would be more forgivable if they went out of their way to kill it instead of the assigned mission but this is a terrible way to move the plot into the asshole jerk trope mokent.
