This has to be one of the most tragic double page spreads split by Mangaplus :nyoron: Yes, I'm aware you don't have to read on Mangaplus

Nah. If a reader enjoys a story that seems to be a one-shot, and then discovers a sequel, then the reader will be pleased or thrilled. Meanwhile, what most manga writers, editors, and publishers imagine as hooks are just annoying butt-hangers, that alienate a share of readers.

The survivor bias here is overwhelming a simple truth.

I don't quite understand how the writing for this manga works; the experienced mangaka comes up with the plot, but the inexperienced girl... writes it? I don't feel this collaborative writing arrangement is very compelling, doesn't feel like there is a strong central auteur with a vision here.

Barazono writes the plot in words, then Wakaba draws the presentation. The same plot can be presented in different ways. It does indeed feel weird that they added Barazono to the team, when the premise started with the two of them and their chemistry.
