Most volumes are 6-10 chapters. This is chapter 38, we're way more than 2 volumes.
I don't think this is an axe, I think this just the Managaka wrapping up the story.

I mean sure we barely touched on Iroha, and the budding RomCom with the two mains has been pretty much forgotten, there is a lot more that could told.
But they published their manga, got renewed, and I think the story focus just shifted on the author. So rather than cram in drama, or have an unnatural shift of tone & focus, they are just letting it wrap up.

I am very sad this one is going to end, but I'm not mad except that there wont be new chapters for me to read.
