well not exactly a good guy, he is the type willing to do bad thing for the greater good, it just there are so much corruption in the kingdom, he alone can only change thing in really minor way.
so with the Hundred just wiped them all out, it is easier for him to change thing now.

Mar probably the rare protagonist who got married this early and actually have child with the heroine too.

with noble corruption,.Mars could be use as puppet and cause a civil war. other prince is his grandchild making it easier for him to control and eliminate bad noble using his own grandson.

basically do what ever its needs just for good of the kingdom. he grey character. he had selfish interest but also for the kingdom
