I knew it was likely to come but it's the first time I felt terrible for Johan. Imagining that little kid's voice begging to be allowed to hold on to the memory of his only family got me teary-eyed.
Even if it seems Johan was dangerous very early on, it's also clear fucked up things were done to him and not everything is his fault or due to some inherent evil nature.
I wouldn't be surprised that when I'll know his entire past, I'll think that I'm surprised he didn't turn out even worse!
Brainwashing away memories is such a complete violation. I find it interesting that we learn about it after Johan bonded with an old lady with dementia, repeating exactly the same plea he did, praying for at least remembering her son.
