Reallllyyyyy late answer but back then it wasn‘t 2 Million. Back then there was no inflations and 300 Million yen was in the 60s hella much. Just imagine you got multi-million on your bank

Lol I really dislike this story arc to be honest. Catherine and Kenny really added nothing to the story unlike Mizuhara and Natsumi, or even Shouta and Akane who are probably a more apt comparison as bystander characters. Author probably wanted to add some easy tension to the story (not to mention some nudity and to easily get us hating the older Suzuki creep even more) and to continue the trend of other couples being helped by the main couple, but the execution this time is really pushing it. And then the older Suzuki had to die in that utterly ridiculous fashion only for Taisei to go all chuuni to the max which for me took too much focus away from the reveal of Taisei being Tamotsu's son. I'll bet Suzuki's death will be blamed on Kenny and the author will try to milk that subplot instead of actually going on with the main story.
