That would just make people lose complete trust on the current group.

And then you'd have the issues with the people who even after retirement will feel betrayed about being lied about Idol Miyako.

Maybe, but at the end of the day this is all a business. A business a selling an illusion and certain image. It's all a game of pretend where everyone is a willful participant.
No one likes the kid who when everyone's playing pretend on the playground that they're all idiots and that none of it is real and it's just their imaginations and to play mature games for mature kids such as themselves.

Like I said Im a dumb. And I dont really care about idols. But I do wonder that if people found out she's not some perfect goddess-on-Earth and is actually a "semi-useless lesbian slob with a funny accent who gets jealous of her girlfriend's houseplants", then they would actually embrace it like all of the readers have and like her even better than the perfect idol persona. "She like me, fr fr."
I dont know...

Not if they get ahead of the curve and spin the narrative in their favor to justify Miyako being there. I don't know what story the manager and the girls will come up with but if they don't do anything the papparazi and fan speculation will ensure chaos.

Right now the most strategic decision is to re-incorporate Miyako openly in their activities in some capacity and take control of the narrative before coming up with a less explosive way to let her go.

If they play their cards right this could even lead to her being in a position where she can meet her friends without being scared of cameras.

Some people are suggesting the manager is just doing this to fish Miyako back permanently and sure, that is a possibility (though no such indication as of now), but it's undeniable that not having Miyako back right now is a recipe for disaster for the group.

And yeah, this wouldn't be a problem if the idol showbiz wasn't rotten to the core with papparazi and fan speculation but unfortunately that is what drives their careers so they need to play their hand around it whether they like it or not.
"Not if they get ahead of the curve and spin the narrative in their favor"
It's not gonna be a reputational damage and how many times tabloid trying to spin a narative over a nothing burger ? many times. how many times it ruined career if it's false and made up ? probably less than one percent and only if public already hate the figure.
and it's not even a scandal, it just Tabloid make dumbass speculation out of thin air. it's literaly as much relevancy as Youtube AI generated content.
so stupid

"Right now the most strategic"
the best strategy is not doing anything, basically debunk the delusion and narative spin by the papparazi
the reality are simple, it just couple of friend hanging out on new year
them bending their knees would actually confirmed the whole thing, the group already passed the storm after miyako left and the fans is still loyal to them. so why its became issue again when they already solved it ?
it's truly no brainer solution and idk why the mangaka going to this route for no reason

"If they play their cards right this could even lead to her being in a position where she can meet her friends"
But she could just do that, miyako retired but she still in touch with her idol friend and doesn't planned to comeback ever and the agency just need to make a confirmation.
wow, imagine that. if only the agency have atleast single digit of IQ to actually talk about it.

"Some people are suggesting the manager is just doing this to fish Miyako"
if she's not doing that then she's so moronic i'm surprised she able run the agency at all and they didn't go bankrupt long time ago.
i would prefer if she's actually evil

"this wouldn't be a problem if the idol showbiz wasn't rotten to the core with papparazi"
i just google shit up because im curious turned out changing member are something that happened so frequent as well as graduation for the member
retired idol still in touch with their Friend also something common unless the retired idol is joining adult industry
so its really nothing burger then ?

Ill let the author cook bc this conflict seems a bit blown out of proportion, gonna need to see what that papparazzi can actually cause in order for me to feel the threat on their actions bc right now all i feel is "theyre exaggerating"

Even with the explanations provided above in the comment section

Main problem is that the papparazzi can reveal important private info, people can track her using photos. There have been Idols who where doxxed by stalkers thanks to pictures that lead to their homes

thanks for the translation!

really enjoy how asano lets her get out her emotions and really calm down before even daring to touch the subject of what happened. sometimes its best to let the steam stop before touching the water.

Ooo ... blackmail.

Also, there is no burden if one member is retired. Unless you force your employee to work like a slave to finish the absurd project.

Too much texts walls people! 🤣

Seeing as how the story has been going I expect them to talk it out like they uselly do in this manga. These characters aren't the standard communication impared couple like most...that makes it refreshing for me.

Exactly. The biggest problem is safety, and the Director isn't enthusiastic to protect Miyako's if she's not publicly affiliated with the agency.

The issue is that this literally impacts the entire group's career.
After Miyako dropped out all of a sudden, they spent a ton of time and effort rebuilding the group's brand/image to have Ruri as the new leader and gradually phases out Miyako from the fans' eyes.

Now that she's back in the public eye, especially given that she was spotted with her friends, that new image is going to be tarnished and Ruri & co are put in a very awkward position in front of the fans, because there will be expectations of her returning.

Hate the manager all you want, not saying she's a nice lady, but Miyako did a big fuck up for the group here, even if unintentionally. She hampered their whole rebranding.

It doesn't matter that they're friends and just want to see each other, the public's perception and narrative is what controls their careers, and given how the group stands now Miyako is a liability for their future success. The manager is right to ask for her to come back temporarily so they can get the narrative under control.

If Miyako does not return the papparazi are going to have a field day with this story, and she and the rest of the members are probably gonna be even more hounded by cameras than before.
Yeah, so? Just send a press release to Tv and Newspapers "I was just visiting old friends - I don't want to return being an idol. Please respect my life and please support the group anyway" and that's it.
No need to actively return on the stage and more so no need from the manager to ask her that.
She's just trying to get her in the group again for convenience

After she comes back there will be another picture with her lover, then she will be forced to shave her head and apologize to the public. :smugchisato:

Director was literally blackmailing her. "I can only guarantee your safety if you're with the agency", "dont you have a normal lover who you want to protect?"

you ain't dumb, it's just the idol culture can be fcking toxic. Some fans are obsessive as hell and will rage/threaten their idols once they find out that the "perfect persona" that the idols put on aren't real. However, those fans are also most likely the ones who spend fucktons on idols, so the industry cater to them a lot.

Sure, there are also people who don't care about that and even some that will like the imperfect idols, but they are rare and mostly just casual fans - aka they don't contribute to the idol industry much, so their opinions don't really matter to the industry.

If she actually do what the director told her, then I am thinking about dropping this, cause all of this is just stupid af and is only this Big of a problem so the author can introduce unnecesary drama🤦🏼‍♂️

Yodokawa announced on her twitter that this is the last volume and that it'll be completed before the end of the year.

If previous volumes are anything to go by, there should be 3/4 chapters left.

So, the drama will probably be solved quickly, as it always was. She's just tying up the loose ends.

To drop a manga you like 3 chapters before the end because there's some drama sounds stupid.
