it makes sense. since he spent all these years prepping for his moment of revenge. afterwards what other future does he have to look too. especially with the guilt of taking the life of the daughter aswell by mistake. but maybe this revelation was what got him the death penalty... the lawyer just gets more and more interesting to me. he genuinely does seem to care in his own flawed way. but his actions continue to cause more harm. i also find it interesting how asami can admire the lawyer sm when he has such a deep sympathy for the criminals she condems so harshly. especially since that sympathy has also been insensitive to victims at times. and asami is someone who cares for the victims
