But he isn't doing a right think he's excessively careful. If I invited a partner to my place and they were insistent on avoiding it I would think they had a problem with me rather than anything else. Rather than feel cherished I am now questioning whether they actually like me. Haida understands this is just how kuroi is so its fine in the case of this manga.

Kuroi and Haida are perfect for each other more so than most romance mangas I read I can see why these two love each other and get along. But Kuroi isn't the ideal boyfriend by any means.

Try asking anybody who used to be a smoker, its not easy and takes time.

Perhaps both? Kuroi does cherish her a lot. He obviously wants her to feel comfortable. And he wants to be in the car because he thinks its not the right time to be alone in the same room as her. Japan is a very conservative culture. Very old fashioned

He's honest, genuine, and respectful. I think that's an ideal boyfriend. The word women say what an ideal boyfriend is "safe" and Haida feels safe with Kuroi.
