I don't remember exactly but, I think current acting emperor is the son of one of those dead siblings of the prince's dad. Prince's (afaik) late-dad is the last true emperor so next in line is the prince. Which means current acting emperor is the prince's cousin.

Although if that's the case then prince is technically Lilyca's uncle.
