I'm hoping that his power will awaken when he decide to make a stand to protect her, both for turning the table and giving him the qualification to stand proud going forward.

Might also be a good chance to give more exposition on these family powers.

That’s a good idea, but the emperor and empress coming to save him would be better. I feel like it would give a home to the emotions that he just told himself that he has to suppress/get rid of. Right now as a 12 year-old he needs his family rather than the power to stand on his own. Since he isn’t truly alone.

Her having accurate gut feelings is a little amusing given her previous belief in her mum and others - though maybe she was right since her mum eventually came around.

True but, even if her mom didn't come around, she would just act violently towards her. Her gut feeling is something like survival instinct. Well maybe years of domestic abuse and living in the slums bring out her survival instinct to the fullest.
But yeah, I'm also glad to see her mom comes around. It's just refreshing to see regression but from the daughter's POV instead the regressor.

I truly love how her ability to retort to this fucked up assasin gave the prince the time he needed to move- her instinct, her boldness, her instincts honed from her shitty alleyway life. Because of course he'd be stunned. Hes known this man for years.

She bought them time. He brought them speed.

They'll be wonderful siblings.
