Summary of Volume 2

Basically the other country is sending their royal kids to this kingdom to study, but it’s actually a way to finally settle an issue they had. There was basically a scandalous affair that resulted in a pair of siblings having royal blood but they don’t have any claim to the throne despite what their parents keep claiming, one of the parents is a ex-royal who lost claim to the throne cause of the affair. Their half brother is the only legitimate heir, but the siblings basically bully him. And there have been attempts at assassinating him, with the dumb assumption if he dies, one of his half-siblings would be able to claim the throne despite the king already decided they are not recognized as royals.

Serena gets dragged into kinda babysitting them. But she later learns that the other kingdom is hoping the sibling pair cause problems and makes it easier to deal with them. Serena also ends up getting a gun to help with her assassination work.

Serena ends up training the legitimate heir so he can protect himself at least. After many failed assassination attempts against him and the sibling pair screw up badly, the brother of the pair ends up getting killed by the legitimate heir. While the sister ends up becoming a honey trap type assassin since she got the skills to seduce men and has the looks to go with it. Said sister also killed her parents iirc because she found out she and her brother were just being used by them.

Meanwhile zero development happens between Evan and Serena. Evan’s family basically diss him for not making any progress in his attempts to romance Serena.

This is based on LN volume 2 story. But the LN gives the whole situation with the neighbouring kingdom’s princes right in the prologue.
Manga tries to spread it to make smaller reveals approach.
This chapter also tries to make a smoother transition from the epilogue of volume 1 with picturing the request from the King.

Noble families with just a daughter is a troublesome situation. Unless Alto can make another baby, or adopt another boy (preferably related) as heir, Serena couldn’t just marry Evan because that means the Violets are done. They need a man who is not heir of their own family as her husband, a condition the crown prince totally can’t fulfil.
(Well, there’s still the alternative of finding a competent husband for Rosemary since she’s still legally Violet’s daughter, but they’d be really desperate)

There is the option of them having multiple children and have her father hold onto the title until they are of age, one for the crown and the other as a noble.

Ah, that can work too. Also lower the risk coming from primogeniture (such as civil war from second son trying to end his older brother because else he has no inheritance); because the second son is already promised with safety in form of inheritance from his mother’s side.

Maybe I’m just too much in the assumption of modern people having child at older age, but pairing it with middle age’s lower life expectancy ^^;;
