It's an adaptation. Meaning that it starts as a set number of advertising chapters for the light novel and if it becomes popular in it's own right, it will continue till the audience looses interest.

Judging by the low quality slop-esk arc scenarios, this was riding the coat tails of other similar titles, but never really caught on. So the publisher didn't renew the contract.
