Hrm, mixed feelings for this chapter. Like I understand not giving him reasons to resolve his beginning conflict, but it's written in such a cheeky old-timey way that it leaves a bad taste in my mouth regardless of how much he deserves it. For all the deeper character building we got from this, he's really written here to sound like he hasn't developed much lol

It probably will hit less hard if you're binging through and there being another chapter to read... at least

Honestly this whole arc just feels defeating and makes the former hero comeback feel empty. The MC barely did anything this arc beside constantly get used as a meatshield, the butt of a joke, or warned about dangers that were easily overcome in the same chapter. The MC could of not been there and the parties would have still suceeded with no issues to the point as nothing of the previous set ups really showed up or proved a problem.

Dangerous demon lord subordinate? Easily neutralized and another new north hero adventurer outclasses them with no problems also ignore the moral problems of how said demon murdered a bunch of people including close loved ones.
Possible fighting between the guilds? Easily resolved no worries as the magic guild who wanted to experiment on demon daughter proceeds to offer no conflict and want to help and shady spy guild for some reason gaslit everyone into thinking they were going to cause problems and set off danger in the dungeon but again did nothing and offered to help. Also the demon daughter danger of being exposed just died like a wet fart.

Dangerous dungeon which requires the former hero to help? Its nothing but just a sleeping place for the demon lord's wife and there is nothing dangerous to the younger generation which could require some expertise or wisedom of the former hero to solve.

Conclusion? Everyone gets what they want and learn nothing and its all supposed to feel like we are to laugh at the former hero cause he did nothing really and learned nothing thus leading back his old bad habits.

Loved the reveal of all spoils belonging to the employer. Poor Dan. I honestly like the series for it's light-heartedness, there's rivalry between the adventures but ultimately no malice and the demons aren't inherently evil so can coexist.

This manga is pretty good. Dan is pretty funny. Madrun is hot as hell.

what a weird conclusion, how they started the rivalry that hinted on things like the scientist faction experimenting on demons and the gambling guy constantly being suspicious suddenly got thrown out of window. might just be red herring but this is a really bad one, like do we even got an explanation on why the west guild are faithful to demon lord? i could only theorize that they have demons among the rank (hell, might be the leader herself)
