Kirie has been hard and soft dropping some series as she's been taking an extended vacation traveling with her wife, shes still trying to find time while she's traveling to keep up with some of her series to translate them and have some of her staff finish type setting the translations. people keep on md keep parroting this weird cringe narrative shes an evil monster that translates and completes chapters and only releases when someone else posts a chapter, which just makes no logical reasoning. She's stated before she just translates a bunch of chapters at once but just has them waiting on her staff who all have their own lives to finish the type setting and editing. when she sees people are getting really impatient and other people are posting their own chapters she just goes in and tries to finish the type setting herself on chapters she already has translated. readers trying to fabricate some crazy fake drama are just so weird. just be grateful they have been translating series for us for the better of the decade and move on. better things to get angry about
The standard around here is groups like... if I'm not mistaken LHTranslations in particular actually doing the chapter hoarding tactic you see described.
Would you really expect everyone to spend time investigating the lives of scanlators, nevermind an actual company, before consuming and interacting with the work they provide?
Not even a well-off NEET with all the time in their life would necessarily dedicate time to that endeavor. And even if time is dedicated, it wouldn't be for every single thing as they come up.
It's far easier to just go with an assumed worst. Especially when there is an ongoing example with another group.
Not to mention kirei cake, for a long time, copy/pasted a message about staying home to take care of someone for a huge number of years. That bit in particular is probably what most people remember about the group, and why there would be an association with shady group behavior.
