Being of the old guy persuasion myself (I'm 68) I can relate to this in a way I suspect most here don't.
Things were different when I was a youth-- better? Worse? The same but not? Well, all that's debatable, but there's no doubt that they were different.
Now, the protagonist is very much the stereotype of an Old Japanese Guy, the sort living in one of those dying towns (which are a thing in Japan and a matter of concern to many) and (like more than a few people my generation I could name) doesn't get the new ways thing are getting done. I get that all too well. And he remembers how to do things in the old ways, where the modern guys don't. I get that too. (I cannot help but chuckle when I see-- and this is real-- a kid asking why someone 3-D printed the 'save icon' upon seeing a 3.5 inch floppy.) I'm expecting Genji to learn a few things beyond magic himself.
Looking forward to this one. At the least, it amuses.
