This post says a lot more about you than the author. First: The story is based on a novel, with this chapter having been released before October 2023. Second: I can't really say that I have seen Krav Maga used in manga at all. Third: What does the political climate have to do with any of this?

Yeah I suspect the author chose it because it's one of the "famous" non-asian martial arts. It's part of the way to highlight how the world has changed and there is so much more information available that the guy can train in a completely foreign martial art that grandpa has never seen before.
