If either of them told him the proper reason they were leaving him there would be a chance for them in my mind, but this is a romance manga and everything is never wrong and every time someone gets hurt emotionally it never matters in the end and the weakest fucking apology fixes everything for everyone.

No he is on his third year here, probably got confused with the time skips and shit, it goes like this

3rd Year Highschool at 1st page of chapter 1 -> flashback to him dating the 1st Ex on his 3rd year of middle school on page 2 -> 2 year time skip after break up -> dating 2nd Ex on his 2nd year of highschool -> 1 year timeskip after break up and we go back to the present, with him starting 3rd year and meeting them again

Wow very well said wish this was clearly shown in the manga , maybe it was but I missed it
