I think the girl mc ability is based on %. Like how an awakening needs you to be 50% hp, no matter how strong or weak you are. If she becomes jaded, it will be a lot harder for her to go sigma mode. So, I think she should stay like this for now. For her own good. (It’s not based on hp in this case but I’m using an example).

If the sage's guess is right, it's based on how much she feels like she is Literally For Sure About to Die, which means that every enemy she beats and every time the sage brings her back from near-death, it becomes that much harder to activate...
