In a twisted way I think the parents would have wanted this outcome despite their deaths. They may have wanted to live for their child but having a S-Rank hero protecting their child is acceptable.

Now we see why he would work with monsters.

Also something awful to consider. Their child is what doomed them. Because they lived together for two years and only when the child started growing is when things fell apart.
