Fina's little monologue this chapter feels flat because she's known Lutz for some small indeterminate amount of time, like a month maybe. Of course you don't know everything there is to know about him, you've barely spent any time with him. Her monologue makes it seem like a failing on her part but we the reader don't have any sense that time has really passed. Unless this is supposed to be taken as a maiden in love type thing where this becomes a more contrived element.

This chapter does reveal something about Lutz which we didn't know is that he basically half kills himself on every mission. Putting way more of himself into each mission than apparently, any other soldier or whatever he was in the kingdom. This may be supposed to be taken as some sort of virtue but without actually know what he did I can't see as anything other than a flaw. I can't imagine being friends with someone that seemingly tries to die on each outing they go on.
