The art style is quite refreshing. It’s not that I dislike how manga look these days, it’s just that it sometimes feels very samey. The art style here is definitely one of personal favourites.
The plot isn’t something we haven’t seen before, but “underappreciated protagonist who doesn’t think they’re special until they find their support group” is an instant classic, in my personal opinion at the very least. The pacing also rather fast for my taste, but I understand that the early chapters of all manga are necessarily like this. Hopefully it finds its stride later on.
The setting is quite to my taste, as it isn’t a medieval world stuck in stagnation but a developing one with ”magical devices” that mimic actual technology. Although as of right now (chap 6) we’ve only seen a car, I’m hopeful that more stuff will be shown.
There’s real room for improvement when it comes to the character work, I won’t lie. Our protag-kun feels like a cardboard cutout currently, though I see some real potential in him to be a compelling character, which I hope the author will capitalize on. The other characters shown also have potential, and will naturally feel more fleshed out if we get some more downtime with them.
It also gets bonus points for not being a “reincarnated in another world with cheat powers” and also not having a harem tag. No romance either, but I wouldn’t expect it from this type of story. At least Lutz and Fina are cute, and Lambert is also quite handsome. Especially in love with Fina’s design.
Mangadex says this one has been in the works since 2020, so my hope is that the writing improves as we catch up to the current raws. I’ll be watching this closely, it seems ot’s going to be a lot of fun.
Overall, I would so far give this a pretty solid 8/10, and would definitely say it’s worth reading at least the first few chapters to see if it’s your cup of tea or not.
Many thanks to LoliTobrut for picking this up, and thanks for the translation!
