@jak He literally died, that changes the person. Also, he relived things for the second time in somewhat similar setting, deviating only by his training, so it does make sense he isn't acting exactly the same.
How would you act when suddenly reborn in the past with your memories? Same as before? I don't think so.

So are we gonna just move pass selling a child to fill their stomach part....aight, I hope they didn't sell her/him as a slave. Maybe adoption or as a house maid 'cause otherwise that would be quite heartless to say the least even if it was to survive. Most manga try to cover more of these type of incidents in detail than giving us a one sentence monologue by the mc triggering when he got a bit hungry.
