surprised it hasnt been mentioned in the comments, but i think this has to do with what mc's friend said about time dilation inside, your brain can't process all the information so you are bound to lose some memories, which is why they can't properly be used for training purposes. the reason why he is shocked about hearing the brother's name/feeling like complete shit might be because of memory disparity
