A bit confused by the "I don't want to get involved with my father..." line, didn't his and Kikuko's father die in that natural disaster, or is that something that changed in the revamp?

A bit confused by the "I don't want to get involved with my father..." line, didn't his and Kikuko's father die in that natural disaster, or is that something that changed in the revamp?

The part about his death hasn't changed in the alternate version, but I thought Akira might not have known about his father's death and returned to check the house years later after the natural disaster incident. Anyway, I've changed the line to "I don't want anything to do with my father..." to avoid any confusion.
