Morons taking parenting advice from an ecchi harem manga aside, from a narrative standpoint the reasoning here is completely fucking incomprehensible. I can't magine being so defensive over what is clearly the author or publisher getting bored with the pace and changing setting as quickly and clumsily as possible (the whole transition happens over the course of a few clipshow collage pages with vaguely supportive narrator text, it's unreal how obvious it is)... but my parents didn't abuse me so I never developed the coping mechanism of a pathological need to pretend abuse is normal.

It does however explain why I had forgotten that this was the source of the Ghyslaine character design: the story clearly just isn't handled competently enough to be talked about, its wider reach is just character porn. Very disappointing work, significantly more disappointing readership.
