@Spoonikle well she was treated as somewhat of a pariah in her hometown and she uprooted herself and went to a place with a totally different culture full of many who dislike her race even though she looks almost exactly like them but live much longer and have unique abilities. Their world isn't that well connected either..

it's probably about 10 years before she meets rudy. 7 years in the university, and at least a few years until she gets hired to teach rudi, since she said she'd graduated from the university some time ago.
a lot of shit can happen in 10 years that really changes you

@nobaka - No, I mean shes acting even younger than she was acting after she climbed the ranks of adventurer with her party and WATCHED ONE OF THEM DIE.
This isnt anything "before rudy" this is all AFTER shes tutored him - this entire arc is her time in magic university while 10 year old rudy is with his relatives.
Shes suddenly regressed to infantile levels even though shes nearly 30 years old, because the spin off author can't do anything by write children characters. She just spent 3 years teaching a child and learning how to be the adult - to suddenly go to playing around with kids as a kid who is actually nearly 20 years older than all of them.
Her current character is basically any teen girl trying to be an adult - and not a person who dragged themselves across an entire continent off the blood and backs of their friends to seek out a new life in a new world after living one already.

ah, the acting more childish thing, yeah that's definitely happening. part of it has to do with being in a more secure environment (the university). when you aren't in constant danger of being murdered by bandits/fanatics/racists or eaten by monsters, your brain relaxes a bit. she was FORCED to act as an adult too early (even if she was technically an adult when she left her village), and now that she's actually somewhere safe, you get to see her react to more minor problems like these, which she generally DOES respond childishly to. Even later in the novel, roxy acts like a kid when she's being spoiled.
here, she's not being the A-rank adventurer who had her party wiped out, she's being the new student from the demon/magic continent.
so yeah, you're totally right, she's acting a LOT more childish/child-like in this chapter
it IS before rudy, though. After she teaches rudy, she works for the shirone kingdom as the court mage. one of the reasons she got hired despite being a demon/magic race in a family with a Milis believer is because she was a university graduate.
she gets her Water magic rank certified at the university (Water King, iirc, since Rudy uses Saint rank for his 'graduation') and is already certified before she meets rudy

@Spoonikle at what chapter did we pass her going to the Greyrats? She sent Rudeus a letter saying that she became a court magician of Shirone Kingdom and also a teacher of Pax, a Prince of Shirone. Which is Vol 2 of the main story which is after she left the Greyrats after she finished tutoring Rudeus.
