This is still really interesting, despite its departure from pure SoL. Though pure SoL does get boring after a while (see: Seitokai Yakuindomo) though it has its place, purpose and market.

i wouldn't look at seitokai yakuindomo as a good example of pure SoL.
seitokai yakuindomo's pulling in point was its vulgar sex jokes, not the slice of life, and what made Seitokai Yakuindomo get boring was it kept rehashing the same joke routine until it stopped being funny.
