Ngl bro is more pathetic than the father
It's not entirely a bad take because the son is responsable for what he's doing now that he's an adult, a naive one but still an adult, tho i wouldn't say he's pathetic he just doesn't know better. The issue with the father is that this case is one of those were 1 of the partners is passive, how many women irl stay with people that abuse them and say: but i still love him. Many unfortunately, and this case with the father is a bit of the opposite. The issue here isn't the mother been jumping from dick to dick, the moment she did something to her son leaving a burning scar on him, it should have been a red flag and he should have acted accordingly, not ruining the family of course but also not letting something like that go unnoticed.Extraordinarily bad take.
A lot of the blame sadly rests with the father, yea the mother was a spoiled slut, but he chose to marry her and when she showed who she was with all the cheating, neglect, and abuse towards her children he needed to have manned up and divorced her ass.
Instead, he allowed this to fester and now everything is warped. Let this be a lesson to never stay with someone who doesn't respect you or your boundaries.
The person you replied to is also incorrect, in a sense; Ken's kinda doing the same thing that individual is accusing the father of.It's not entirely a bad take because the son is responsable for what he's doing now that he's an adult, a naive one but still an adult, tho i wouldn't say he's pathetic he just doesn't know better. I agree with what you said, but now seems the dad does not want to reconnect with his wife, he knows about the abortions and that's something he just discovered, not only that but even Moe could not be his, so I can understand him not wanting to fix things, but he should tell that to Ken, he's pushing to get them back, but does not know the full story either and from the agency they're keeping that from him, wonder if that will change how he views his familly even more, like he has to know they won't be a normal family anymoreThe person you replied to is also incorrect, in a sense; Ken's kinda doing the same thing that individual is accusing the father of.
Before, it was the father who tried to keep the family together, through all of the mental illness and promiscuity of the mother. Now, it's Ken trying to do the exact same thing, except he's trying to keep Moe out of things.
I went back to re-read from chapter 12 to confirm something, and Ken's really just doing the same selfish thing the father did before. He wants his "old normal family" back, minus Moe who he sees as a monster and as a risk to the idyllic home life Ken believes he can still possess. When he meets with his dad in the diner at the behest of the investigators, the dad tells him (in effect) "these things take time. I contacted your mother several times since Moe's entrance ceremony, but she's not gotten back to me. But things will fix themselves, if you're patience."
And Ken is the one who loses his patience (against the coaching of the investigators) and yells at his dad to "go to mom directly", and to stop waiting around.
So while the father is absolutely passive and has a part to play in trying to maintain things when the mom first went off the rails, Ken's just as naive as his father was, and he's trying to force his father to "reconcile" with his mother and get them back together like everything can be magically fixed.
Well - not enough time has passed in-story, I think, from when the Father spoke with Ken at the diner, to going to see Akemi (Mother) at her apartment, to rushing her to the hospital, to getting sat down by her doctor and told about the multiple abortion visits (the last being 19 years prior where she didn't have the pregnancy terminated, resulting in Moe's birth).I agree with what you said, but now seems the dad does not want to reconnect with his wife, he knows about the abortions and that's something he just discovered, not only that but even Moe could not be his, so I can understand him not wanting to fix things, but he should tell that to Ken, he's pushing to get them back, but does not know the full story either and from the agency they're keeping that from him, wonder if that will change how he views his familly even more, like he has to know they won't be a normal family anymore
oh you're right about that he did wanted to protect them both of how her mom is, and you did pointed something that I did forget, he does sees Moe as a doll right now, but yeah poor man is dealing with too much right now, it does not help what he just found out and the cameras too, I can see the investigators trying to protect thim right now and not tell him about her mom being a slut, but yeah it's gonna backfire if they don't tell him. Specially if is Moe! she's gonna use that in really bad way for sure.Well - not enough time has passed in-story, I think, from when the Father spoke with Ken at the diner, to going to see Akemi (Mother) at her apartment, to rushing her to the hospital, to getting sat down by her doctor and told about the multiple abortion visits (the last being 19 years prior where she didn't have the pregnancy terminated, resulting in Moe's birth).
After which, the Father was having a (I'd argue justifiable) meltdown back at his own house (their original family residence) right after hearing of everything Akemi had done over the course of their marriage. He only just calmed down as Moe came in and talked with him, and by that point it was nightfall again.
From there, the next we see Ken, he's getting debriefed by the investigators, and then offered a key to the woman's apartment so that he'd have his own space to rest and recuperate in.
Yes, the Father needs to tell Ken what's happening--but I think he wants to try and spare both of his children from the reality of what their mother has been doing. He continues to want to hide it all from Moe (unaware that she's very well-informed), wanting her to stay "pure" (we even see her depicted as a doll sitting next to him, to symbolize how he's kinda objectifying her, in a sense, as the youngest in the family). He asked that Ken keep the burns a secret from Moe in the past, yes, but the Father did do what he could to try and create some semblance of normalcy for the two children whenever Akemi went AWOL. So him not wanting to tell Ken would be consistent with his historical behavior when it comes to airing out the secrets of their family.
I do think that Ken's going to get the full scoop eventually, and I sorta suspect it'll be Moe who tells him. He'll not believe her, of course, but he'll maybe end up seeing for himself. Either via footage he stumbles across while under the investigator's care, or he'll run into Akemi herself, out with another dude, maybe.
Either way, Ken finding out is another big piece of the overall puzzle, because currently he's the closest to being "Team Akemi" of the three by virtue of what he wants for himself. But there's still space for the family to fall even further, and Ken's disillusionment will be a big step, and will have to come at a breaking point for all of them.
