I don’t think people willingly put up a class based system based on that. Put yourself in their shoe, if you’re a caravan and you want escorts, you’d most definitely want escorts who can take care of themselves (i.e. cook their food, which can be made easily with fire magic vs flint and steel).
Nobody wants a talent based society, it just comes into existence because everyone wants a qualified person to meet their demand.
