The sense of not being "normal" or why "can't I be like everyone else" is something that so many people can relate to for many different reason. For me, for many years I was undiagnosed with ADHD and I would keep asking myself why was I out sync from everyone else and why wasn't I "normal". Only recently did I learn I had ADHD, and just like the MC I felt weight being lifted from my shoulders. I'm not where I want to be now but I feel somewhat better finally having a understanding of why I am the way I am.

Oh this is an interesting story. The line between being not being sexually or romantically interested in anyone YET, and fundamentally being unable to do so is an extremely fine line, one that is extremely hard to differentiate at times. Sometimes, you meet the one that rocks your world and completely changes your perspective on yourself, sometimes there is quite literally no one for you, past, present or future. Searching for yourself, accepting yourself, and finding others who accept you are all equally important parts of a journey, something that applies to everything, not just this.
In any case, great story.

What a lovely friend.
You didnt get the main message of the manga.

Kanade, and Aoi as well, wasn't miserable because she was by herself, she was miserable because of the societal pressure "to be in a relationship is normal". That thought, that was instilled by everyone around them as well as most media like books and movies, was the reason for both of their misery. Finding someone else like them was giving them proof that they were not alone. As they showed with Aoi: she was happy, just having a good friend that accepted her like she is was enough to bring her out of her depression. Aoi then fund out she is in fact romantic, but she managed to overcome the complex before that revelation and before Kanade. Kanade then broke out of the depression by Aoi still being her best friend and showing to her: You can have human connections, even if you are aromantic.

To stay in the metaphor of the work itself: Not having wings is fine as well and not something to be sad about or for other people to ridicule.

Hmm, so Kanade really was aromantic after all. Anyway, she's happy in the end, and that's what really matters. It's cute that not only does she continue to be good friends with Aoi, but she also seems to be close with Aoi's daughter Akari. I'm also glad Ookuwa could stay with Aoi as friends even after being initially rejected; not many could do that... and for staying as one of her two best friends he inadvertently got a second chance at love in the end.

Unrelated side note, I wonder if the scanlator could make a 1-person group for themselves rather than go with No Group. Reason being, this release cannot be added as a "Release" on MangaUpdates without a group name (yeah, it's an MU site rules thing).

edit:
Release by Hana no Gengo has been approved on MU.
お疲れ様です!

My headcanon is that Aoi is demisexual/demiromantic (hetero oriented) because of how she was genuinely not attracted to anyone until an imaginary switch flipped and she got attracted those two times because of her bonding. Also hetero because she didn't switch flip with Kanade, an equal or greater bond.

PSA: Only headcanon fictional characters. Real life is off limits and will probably hurt feelings.

shes a one winged angel in the metaphor, right

Also she's basically the hetero version of Yuu (bloom into you) and Kanade is the same as Maki

It's always really nice to see ace representation in... anything really. I know as an ace person that I can't exactly claim to be oppressed, but it's still nice to see someone else.
