She saw the signs and she did nothing until it was too late. That's the easiest thing I can think of with this one.

Did she? Those signs may only become signs once they're re-contextualised by her suicide. Friends and family often say they never saw the suicide coming, but they're still with feelings of regret all the same.

So this comic leaves me with mixed feelings, we're given no information on what the FMC could have done for the girl besides been there at that particular time, and could she have actually known? Was it actually feasibly possible for her to have been there?
To me it feels like this should have been framed a bit differently, and been more about how the friend didn't intend to have such a negative effect on FMC's life.

But maybe I'm overthinking it because it's a heavy subject.

I think that's evidence enough that the author made their story work -- you're empathizing with someone, even without knowing about them.

That's the thing with depression thou, it's very hard to see it coming and it all lines up at end. What worse for this thou, people will think it would be their fault at the end but in truth, she was already a ticking time bomb before that so even if they were to think they were able to prevent the said event, another one could have triggered it instead.

I know it's a bit morbid thinking but that how it is sometimes. Depression isn't a short time event, it's a series of events that stacks up over a long period of time that, at certain point, pushes an individual to end it all. Knowing how terrible the East Asia's culture in education is to the psyche of a teenager, yeah.... It's going to be a lot harder for the individual.

Interesting framing, good art, and an impactful story do tend to be signs that something is good and the author is good at doing stuff

Not bad at all for 4 pages (max allowed for the contest). It's highly likely they were at least friends, the death of a friend will definitely hurt and haunt her for far longer than the death of a complete stranger.

If you mean 4 pages, it's an "Honorable Mention" award for a contest that only accepts 4-page entries, the description says "4-Page division" so that means every other entry, including the actual winner will only have 4 pages.
