Bit late but it's worth repeating I think. Someone explained it better in another comment thread but basically serialisation is not always a permanent affair. The serialisation could end and either that's the end of that story or the artist/mangaka goes back to doing it via pixiv/fanbox/twitter etc.

Alternatively, they could just use their own free time to either flesh out or branch out their story. Either way it continues and I continue to require insulin.
