Chapter 10 be like: My Homeless Chain Smoking Communist Eldritch Coworker is moving in with me after failing to pay her rent on time.

(If only her fundamental necessities "cigs" required for life could be payed for by state welfare programs) :kek:

Well, you see Miss Eldritch Being From Beyond The Stars... that's a mouthful... Hoshi-chan, the purpose of a species isn't really the cutoff. The purpose of any individual member of a species is to see their specific lineage passed on and propogated. There is a biological imperative to beat others of our species and "win", and while many forms of society have been constructed to benefit the species, they are usually twisted by that impetus to win and those who can accumulate power do so and then use it to oppress those who didn't.

Ultimately, the form of society you propose falls into the same problems as the society you exist in, because the root problem's not the rules, it's the people.

Please save us, Hoshi-chan! Seize the reins of society and steer us towards the goal we cannot achieve ourselves due to rampant self-sabotage!

Props to the human to speak truth to power.

Also, I love that she is in favor true communism.
Eh, just means she doesn't know enough to understand why communism doesn't work, hence why she questioned it. She barely understands survival instincts or human behavior so far, after all.
Though, she is right about the government being unnecessarily complicated and getting in the way, because that makes any system worse. Which is funny because a super complex gov is necessary in a communist system, but I digress.

Dang...
This was kinda dialogue heavy and depressing.

Sad that the only way to survive in such an environment is by having cheat skills like her.
Sucks that most societies are based on just making more money and competition instead of helping out everyone which further reinforced by bad policies and those with power.

Glad to think that she might be going into altruism.

I'm sure if I read this again while focusing on stuff like her being homeless, smelly and weird then I'll find it to be funnier.

Also what? Someone drew some kinda graffiti and possible magic circle using their blood on the ceiling? Wonder if that could lead to anything.
And the precision of her counting is so weird, like did she stop the counting as she said the number or when she started the sentence? We know she ain't lying.

High-socities have the base expectations of generational wealth, in the sense of currency, housing and most importantly, networking.

"she" being a literal outsider, without even government support or attempting to use homeless shelters and soup kitchens, means she truly has no starting point to stand on.
Even a lower-socio-economic person has more support networks than it does.

So, the moral here is just that: Yeah, complex societies are complex, and are hard to integrate into. They expect you to "know and have things" by premise, rather than purely because of capitalism.

Just saying, if anything, the issue isn't that governments are overly complicated, but that they are abusable and prone to corruption, and its inherent complexities are used to filibuster and stop positive change.

Human law is complex because it has to be, too many diff scenarios and circumstances and types of people to account for, for it to be simple.
My one and only real issue with govs, is the ever present idea of "rules for thee, but not for me!"
The rich and networked get a free pass, for what others get a lifetime sentence.

Her assessment makes it seem like the creature is under some vague assumption that everyone would just contribute to the shared resources, and not attempt to get more than they need, or just lase around if it came to that. She does know humans aren't on some level of hivemind right?
what you are describing is called "crime" and it's punished under capitalism too, but only when the classes who don't wield the power of the state do it.
the rational, self-interested human is a collectivist who understands that cooperation is more efficient than competition and that the abstraction of debt needlessly complicates society and makes resource distribution less efficient. e.g., cities spend more in various expenses dealing with homeless people than they would just building free homes for them because it's "unfair" or "feels wrong" to give free homes out in a society that runs on the concept of debt, even though it's obviously the more efficient thing to do.
but you are right, humans are not a hivemind. they're mostly irrational too. all we can do is point out the contradictions in the systems in which we live and hope to convince those around us to agree to abide by more efficient and logical ways of self-governance than we do now. utopia is impossible, but shoot for the moon and you'll land among the stars.

Secret police comes in various flavours. If you'd rather just be shot like a dog on the street by them, and the murder justified by calling you a terrorist, then definetly go for those FICO points.

I love the very accurate assessment that it's the dumbest fucking thing for us to embrace this capitalist hellhole that we call a society, with an immediate jump to "no, you still live like a stray dog in a dump".

It's genuinely just a sign of quality.
