Uh what, so he ended up joining the final boss? That's a bit disappointing...

Also, if he's suspected as spy, shouldn't his parents also be in the same boat?

Lol. You went and slaughtered a major general of the Empire who's been thoroughly ass raping us for a while, and even saved a bunch of our soldiers and prevented a conspiracy from unfolding. I know! Let's sentence you to death! I'm sure this won't backfire and have you slaughter a whole bunch of our strongest warriors for the injustice! And we'd even be right, because we know you're just a bitch boy beta MC who'll roll over and accept death, to the point the main antagonist had to bail you out (Even if he orchestrated the whole thing).

Truly, excellent.

This sequence of events is pretty contrived and annoying. The fact that he didn't kill that sword mage, he got caught by his comrades and explained the situation to them yet he was still held liable just for wearing an empire uniform, then he was very suddenly sentenced then sent to work for the antagonist, and finally a four year time skip. Narratively this has been pretty good so far, but these last few chapters really threw a giant wrench into the works.

What did you expect? When dealing with politicians and politics, you need to expect the worst and the most illogical bs possible to happen and resign your life to it.
That's why, when politicians are around, always treat them with contempt and never give them a chance to talk. That's the common knowledge, for politicians were, are, and will always be worse than trash.
You are truly a man after my own heart.

Gosh... I suddenly feel the need to reread everything before i continue... This is awesome tho!:3 Excited to see what happens next. I do like the fact the MC failed for once, he messed up a bunch these last few chapters, pretty interesting~

I've started this series twice and stopped reading here at the same place because this turn of events was too stupid to stomach. The instant death sentence despite the fact he killed an enemy general is beyond idiotic. Nothing about this makes any sense.

He's wearing the enemy uniform and attacked his captain. All things point to him being a traitor/spy to his nation. As for the enemy general, for all they know, the enemies are simply fighting amongst themselves for who knows what, power struggle probably. From the public point of view it makes perfect sense.

That and, it helps that there's corruption within upper ranks of the country and Harold basically ruined their plans (think it's related to the Stellar Tribe), so they likely pushed for his execution to hide their involvement + failure.

Where to begin?

1) He didn't kill the captain when he didn't have a reason not to if he were the enemy.
2) He killed an enemy general that was butchering their knights.
3) He is a member of a powerful noble family with no discernable ties to the enemy.
4) He was only in the combat area because of a weird suggestion that came out of nowhere for no good reason.

There's so much conflicting evidence here it's ridiculous to think they'd pass a quick death sentence. Absolutely no one would think this judgment was on the level and it would be impossible to pass it off as such. You don't kill off nobles with otherwise exemplary track records that lightly -- especially not without, you know, properly interrogating them at least. Jeez.
