Yeah and glossing over the Genocide in the earlier chapters to... "It's in the past and there are no more vampires so everything is fine" feels icky.

I mean, you really wouldn't want her to dwell on something that A. Was completely out of her control and B. Will do her no good to anguish over. She's allowed to grieve over it but that's probably the reason everyone didn't tell her until just now
