so like, she has all the behavioural tendencies of a classic yandere, but the desires of a normal person so to speak? thats interesting if thats the way they're going. like its gonna be something like the rope was just so she could hang it up to look like its standing, and she never even considered strangling him maybe.

The main difference between Tokano and your standard "yandere" character is that she’s is treated as an actual personality trait she has and the manga shows she's been fixated on others before, making it look more like an exaggerated BPD thing. Instead of the unrealistic slasher movie shit they tend to do with other characters that get called yandere where the character is like that as plot device to make edgy scenes. It’s a very fresh take on the yandere trope (ironic since this is quite diluted) that actually gives depth to the archetype. As we see that the absolute insane shit she does like measuring him or planting bugs on people's house are in a way, an acceptable way to demonstrate love in her eyes but she still has the standard jap rules for decency. Most that go for the yandere route tend to drop all nuance and become generic in the way they show their crazyness, going full violent and/or sex horny.

Tokano is a pretty interesting character besides being a 10/10 cutie.

Hmm, this is the first chapter which maybe felt a little weak to me, relative to the others. Specifically, because the male lead seemed like a kid who's trying to guess his birthday present. I didn't feel as much of the kind of jaded, dark ambience of himself in previous chapters, where it felt like he was a person with common sense on the surface but on the inside he calmly disregarded his own safety in pursuit of a certain feeling. I appreciate that dark yet purehearted aspect of him.

This chapter made the manga feel a bit like an extreme version of Nana to Kaoru, with the same "I wonder what the next breather will be" sort of approach to storytelling. Well, that's interesting in its own way, and it's not like this is necessarily the start of a trend either... For example, it's very possible that after this mini arc they will decide that it's better to not try to expect her to perform for him, and maybe he will also decide it's rude as a boyfriend to be thinking things like "is this all she can think of" (not saying I dislike those things, just saying that thematically it could go either way... the fact he's "using" her could be focused on by the author if they choose to). But well, even if this chapter is the start of a trend, it'll still be much more awesome than a typical manga. Ultimately, I still loved this chapter.
