If an interviewer asked me stupid questions about my appearance for a developer job, I'm out of there before they can refuse me.
Like, for real, wtf about that? It's natural to want to look good, especially for a job interview.
The ex-sempai/superior said that was just a typical tactic to put pressure in the person interviewed... but how are you supposed to react to that? The way I see it:
You accept the criticism: "You have no guts to speak for yourself, we don't need some spineless person working here."
You deny the criticism and try to defend yourself: "Why are you so on the defensive? Are you the type of person to raise your voice towards your betters, or are you denying you previous company find you lacking? So problematic, Im sure that's why they let you go..."
You can't win. At that point, it just feels like the interviewer got a bad impression on you and just wants an excuse to kick you away
