Based on how he was so surprised, and the fact he cited the claws that what's-his-face had cut off as a key part of the strategy -- also specifically saying not to rush in, which was the guy's originally (and probably very legit) strategy, which would change the slime-spider's claw location -- then I'm guessing it can basically read the future.
