Well, as my SO says: children speak their parents' language. The older sister became exactly what she grew up seeing all her life: her oppressive mother.
I agree with the overall sentiment here, this is scarily true to life and I would have liked a bit more of resolution. Specially for the younger sister who needs to get the fuck out of there.
Reminds me way too much of my mother when I still lived at home. It’s scary to realize how much someone can mold you, your thought patterns, your reactions. We think we are totally in control of ourselves, but so much of our behavior is nearly automatic. Being mindful of every tiny aspect of that is impossible.
This serialization suffers from being stuck in the same holding pattern as the one-shot, but it's okay for the latter due to its short length. Big sis, too, is stuck. She's at a crossroads and she knows it.
