Maybe the silk this one uses probably hadn't been processed properly before it was woven into clothing. If it's something to be made quickly, then some steps had to be skipped. I don't know how similar they are to silkworm silk, but if gathered, cleaned, and prepared properly, I imagine they'd have a similar satin smooth texture.
