Seem to be sone kind of higer ranking youkai. And as she said, she is responsible for keeping both youkai and human population safe. And she seems to be extremely powerful. She shrugged off Taya's attack like it was nothing.
I think she always have her reason to do things. To.play a devils advocate for a but.
I think one for wanting to take Taya from bone daddy might been one of concern for Taya to live alongside revenant than needs hate or mankind to sustain itself. Would you think it was suitable parenting figure for a child?


For giving Mantis girl means to fight Taya are also easily justified. Priestess might have been unaware Taya sealed memories of mantis girl and he heard only account that Taya murdered her family. So from that pov Taya might look like bloodthisty monster


And now this encounter at the shrine. She plainy explained who she is, and what are her conditions for leaving Taya live her life undisputed. A fair deal.

Like Taya did one with that cheating girl.
